‘Being’ is a series that focuses on the themes on the female gaze, coming of age and the struggles of finding your identity. The series currently includes 5 images that portray these feelings of growing up and navigating beauty, perception and gender. I set out to photograph the subjects by focusing on their character, rather than looks or sex appeal. Incorporating themes of the female gaze about romance, friendship, adulthood, and sexuality. As well as the fight between how society perceives women and how women perceive themselves. Combining long shots and close ups of a female subject to show the feelings of the female experience.
